The Equipment Building is one of two principal contributing outbuildings associated with the U.S. Coast Guard Cape Cod Canal Station built during the period of development. Description: The Equipment Building is sited on the southeastern portion of the Cape Cod Station property flanking the entrance to the site from Coast Guard Road. The Colonial Revival-styled structure is a 4 X 3 bay, story wood-framed, gable-roofed garage building. Four single overhead garage doors dominate the principal north-facing facade. These doors open on overhead tracks to a large multipurpose space used for storage and repair of vehicles and equipment. The exterior has a raised water table, shingled walls, wide corner board pilasters, a hooded entry door facing the station house, and 8 gable roofed dormers.
These dormers, as well as the garret end gables, retain round-arched 6/6 windows in plain enframements decorated by keystones. A large single story shed- roofed storage room has been added to the south elevation. History: The building was built between at the same time as the nearby station House.
