The chapter on Union Township in History of Mercer County, Ohio, and Representative Citizens, published 1907 names Mendon. This is what it says, exactly as the scans read.

Abbey, James Watts, William McMichael and Daniel Murlin. Soon after this Thomas Upton became a resident of the township. In 1835 came John Tomlinson, John Ross, Wesley A. Parrott and his father, John Parrott, John E. Dutton and Resin P. Webb. In 1836 came John Edge. Early the same year came Jacob Panabaker, who located at Mendon (then known as Guilford), and built a saw and grist-mill on the St. Mary's River. Adam Panabaker came also the same year, as well as Asa Presho, Elhanan Porter, Job Harmon, Nathan Perry, Eleazer S. Wright and Robert Mortimore, who was a wheelwright by trade and devoted considerable time to making chairs, spinning wheels and reels for the early settlers.

The Mendon and Wesley Methodist Episcopal churches in Union township, and the Tomlinson Methodist Episcopal Church in Van Wert County, are in one charge, which has been served by the following pastors since 1879, namely: Revs. Lemuel Herbert, John T. Bower, Rudolph R. Bryan, C. S.

of 1905 entertainment was coming to the Hall, and receipts from the shows ART INVENTION THEATER PERIOD SIGNIFICANCE LAW COMMUNICATIONS ARCHEOLOGY-PREHISTORIC ARCHEOLOGY-HISTORIC AGRICULTURE EXPLORATION/SETTLEMENT INDUSTRY XARCHITECTURE XPOLITICS/GOVERNMENT COMMERCE LITERATURE X1900- _PHILOSOPHY MILITARY _TRANSPORTATION According to the Minutes of town council and township trustees, The Mendon Town Hallsprimary significance stems from the fact that are strongly committed to the building, and proud of its architecture and it has functioned as the governmental and social center of the village XSOCIAL/HUMANITARIAN This group uses the 2nd floor for showing movies and is anxious to restore of its long record of service to the community.
_SCULPTURE the theatre to its former position in the social life of the community. And because the Village is so small and shows no evidence of another -1500-1599 economic boom, there is no pressure to move out of the Village offices Christian, Rockford, Ohio,were accepted and he was given the building discovery of oil and gas in nearby fields contributed to a boom that -1400-1499 _EDUCATION -CONSERVATION and the Village of Mendon.It was erected by their joint effort in 19o4. _RELIGION - ENGINEERING -1700-1799 - ECONOMICS -1600-1699 _SCIENCE BUILDER/ARCHITECT William W.
